I am interested in humans and space. Photography has been with me ever since I emigrated from a small Transylvanian village to Germany at the age of 10. A camera has always helped me to see people closer and to better understand my surroundings.
I have studied architecture with a focus on urban planning, wanting to create good spaces for people. During my career as an architect, I kept moving from a large scale of design to a more intimate one in interior design. I wanted to connect with the people who inhabit the created space. When I work or teach today, I understand architecture as a portrait of its humans. The quality of a building depends on the qualtiy of relation between the people who create it.
As a portrait photographer I have come as close to humans as I can be. A feeling of the space in a portrait is as important to me as it is to sense people in spaces that I photograph.
